My girls have their own Monster 1200s Ducati and I’m a teeny bit jealous!
This super slick Mecano monster 1200s Ducati model is from Meccano Maker System kits range … and it is just stunning. For starters, as with all things Meccano, the build quality of the 292 pieces is excellent resulting in a wonderfully solid and robust model that could easily be rebuilt many, many times and still look sharp and new.

Then you have the satisfying size is of the finished model. Small enough to fit nicely on a display mantel but big enough to see all the unmistakable design of the Ducati: the stand, the staggered side exhaust, the coil spring suspension. It’s all hangs together beautifully.

But how easy is it to build the Meccano Monster 1200s Ducati?
So first things first. The kit is aged 10+, there are 58 steps in the manual and it takes approximately 2-3 hours to make.
It comes packaged in a solid cardboard box with clear images of the finished product. Inside, as mentioned earlier, you get 292 parts, 2 tools and a sticker sheet (this is loose in the box so be careful not to loose it and look in the folds of the box if you can’t find it) plus a detailed instruction manual.
The front of the manual has a great page showing all the different ways to use the tools which is perfect for children (and adults) who haven’t made many construction kits or handled tools before. The back of the manual lists all the individual parts with an image, part number and quantity.
The instructional diagrams are of good print quality and broken out into neat logical steps, which is why there are 58 of them! A real bonus is 1:1 bolt and rubber washer diagrams that ensure you use the right size.
My daughter (aged 9) managed to follow the instructions well.
There were a couple of times when she misread the instructions and needed to be corrected (classic miscount of the number os holes when positioning a couple of bolts). But hey, most adults make that mistake as well.

It is fiddly in parts (a common problem in construction kits). So it’s good for the younger kids to have an extra pair of hands around to help hold pieces in place whilst they position the nuts and bolts. But it’s a joy to make and to be honest an adult will get the same pleasure from constructing this as a child.

I cannot praise this Meccano Monster 1200s Ducati kit enough. It ticks all the right boxes; style, quality and detail.
It’s great for team work and bonding, although just as much fun to do on your own. And as mentioned already both adults and kids will love it. Just grab a cuppa and some nibbles and prepare yourself for a couple of hours of construction heaven.
A super quality, super fun, super bike in all senses of the word!
It currently retails for around £30

That looks fantastic I think my husband and son would love to build that together.
This looks brilliant, my three would love to get stuck in with this. I love how engaged your daughter looks.
Oh wow this looks amazing. I would be tempted to get one for myself rather than the girls 😉
Oh this is something that my boys would LOVE. They like building vehicles.
I used to LOVE meccano when I was a kid – that looks fab 🙂
Wow it does look like a stylish to and a reasonable price too for something that will last a very long time. Mich x
This looks great, I think this could be something fun to do with my little man.
We have always been Lego fans and have never really thought of Meccano but this looks great and obviously uses a different set of skills. I love the finished look, what a great project for parents and children to enjoy together 🙂
