The Energy Show – Science Museum, London (Review)

Just over a week ago we were lucky enough to see  ‘The Energy Show’ at the Science Museum, London.

As a family we love playing with ‘Science at Home’, so were very excited at the thought of going. And we were not disappointed.

Assisted by the hapless Bernard and their virtual assistant i-nstein, two futuristic students (Annabella and Phil) have to race against time to prove their knowledge and understanding of energy through a series of live experiments.

Using a SteamPunk workshop full of gadgets and chemicals, Annabella and Phil use liquid nitrogen, hydrogen rockets and electricity to create a dangerously exciting experience.

The experiments get bigger and better as the show progresses with a fab mix of laughs, facts and danger. I can honestly say it was amazing and we all loved it. And as a parent of three girls it was wonderful to take them to a science show headed up by women.

It’s aimed at 7+ which I would say is correct depending on your child.

RoRo and RaRa are heading towards 7 years old and my eldest is almost 8 years old. They were gripped and had a great time although they found the explosions a little scary.

RoRo ran to me for a cuddle when they aimed the rocket launcher at the audience towards the end!

The show is 75 minutes long with no interval but the time goes really quickly as the show it so engaging.

Seating isn’t numbered but the layout means you can easily see what’s going on. The explosions are loud (fingers in ears) so if you have nervy children you might want to sit back a bit.
