This DIY Mother’s Day Heart Card is the perfect activity for kids (and adults!) to create something cute and personal for their mum. Featuring a 3D heart pocket and a Mother’s Day colouring insert, this card is a wonderful way to show love on Mother’s Day. Plus, you can personalise it with your own colours and designs and you use the US English (mom) or UK English (mum) version depending on your preference.

Materials Required
- Paper or cardstock (white & coloured)
- Scissors
- Pencils, crayons, or felt tips – I used Giotto Crayons & Faber Castell Polychronous pencils. If the polychronous pencils are a bit on the expensive side try these Faber Castell colour grip water soluble pencils that I also use.
- Printer
- Glue stick
- Optional decorations: Sequins, glitter glue, pom-poms, etc.

The 3D heart pocket is a fun way to hold your Mother’s Day card insert. It can be printed on paper or cardstock, and you can leave it plain or colour it in with your own creative designs.

Tip: Print on thicker cardstock for a more durable heart. If you prefer a lighter, easier-to-cut version, regular printer paper works just fine!
How to Make the 3D Heart Pocket
- Carefully cut around the lines of the heart template.
- Fold the 2 flaps in towards the heart and glue them in place.
- You can leave the card plain, as shown in the images, or decorate it with sequins, pompoms, glitter glue, or any other fun designs you choose.

How to Make Your Mother’s Day Heart Card Insert
The Mother’s Day Card Insert is designed to be coloured in, so it works best when printed on white cardstock or paper. If you’re using crayons or pencils, printer paper is fine, but I recommend thicker cardstock if you plan to use felt tips for a smoother finish.

How to Make the Mother’s Day Insert
- Start by colouring in the image. I used Giotto crayons and Faber-Castell pencils for a smooth and vibrant finish.

- Carefully cut around the image outline.
- Pop your coloured image inside the heart pocket.
- Feel free to write a personal message on the back of the insert or inside the heart for a special touch.
