An Easy Needle Felt Rainbow Textile Art Project

This Needle Felt Rainbow Textile Art Project is a lovely little craft for adults and kids to do and a great way to learn how to needle felt.

Rainbow Needle Felt

To Make The Needle Felt Rainbow You Will Need

  • a square of felt as the base (any Size)
  • some wool tops,
  • a fine needle
  • a needle felt pad/foam base)
  • a picture frame (optional

Rainbow Needle Felt Wool

I used a white 9″x9″ 30% wool piece of felt as the base that I had put through the washing machine first. This gives it a nice thick bobbly texture that is great for needle felting on to.

Make sure you know where your washing machine filter is before you wash any  felt as the itt can clog up the machine.

First pull off some clumps of needle felt wool and lay them out on the felt base in a rainbow pattern.

Then using a fine needle, felt the layers on to the felt square (watch younger kids as the needle is sharp) until the felt can’t pull off easily by rubbing it.

Rainbow Needle Felt

You can blend the joins by thinning out the felt where it overlaps each colour, or pull out fine strips to create tendrils.
