Happy Friday - Blue Bear Wood

Driving home in the car, Eldest’s convinced she’s got Tomorrow (Friday) off school … with or without her sisters.

Eldest: “Daddy … Mr Teacher said we don’t have to go to school on Friday.”

RoRo: “Well me and RaRa are going to school on Friday! We like school.”

RaRa: “… and Mummy paid for our school dinners. She told us. It’s fish fingers again.”

Mr Dad: “Are you sure? Why would Mr teacher say that?

Eldest: “Because it’s Happy Friday! And so we don’t have to go to school.”

Mr Dad: “Is this a Year 3 thing or the whole school?”

RoRo: “It’s definitely NOT the whole school Daddy. We are definitely going to school on Friday!”

RaRa: “Yes. Mrs Teacher said we’d be doing some special making on Friday. Or maybe it was drawing…”

Eldest: “Well Mr Teacher said I didn’t have to go to school! It’s Happy Friday, and we don’t need to.”

Mr Dad: “Did Mr Teacher explain what Happy Friday is all about? Is there dancing? Jokes?”

Eldest: “No, I don’t think so?? He said it was a holiday for banks. And children.”

Mr Dad: “Ahhhh… do you mean a Bank Holiday?”

Eldest: “Yes!”

Mr Dad: “And did Mr Teacher really say Good Friday.”

Eldest: “Yes. That’s it!”

Mr Dad: “Ah ha. Well that’s next week darling, not this week…”

RoRo: “Yes, Yes! We’ve been learning all about it! It’s when Jesus dies on the cross. And that is NOT a happy day, or very good Daddy.”

RaRa: “But, remember… when Jesus gets up again, the Easter Bunny brings us Easter eggs! That is good.”

RoRo: “Yes it is. But he doesn’t get up on Friday. He dies on Friday. Friday is not a good day.”

Eldest: “Sunday. Jesus gets up on Good Sunday.”

RoRo: “Yes, I think your right. He gets up on Sunday, sees his friends, then he goes to Heaven. And that is good!”

RaRa: “So the Easter Bunny comes on Good Sunday, after Jesus gets up, but before he goes to Heaven?”

Eldest & RoRo: “Yes!”
