I Can Skip … Honest!

I love it when my girls get the better of either me or Mr Dad especially when it has jaw dropping quality.

As they get older they are spending more and more time in the company of others and mine & Mr Dads understanding of what they know and what they can do is sometimes very very wrong.

The girls have been learning to skip with a rope over the last few weeks. RoRo and RaRa have watched in envy as eldest gained more and more confidence moving from a couple of skips, to 10, then 23 and then to infinity and beyond.

Mr Dad decided to take take time out to help RoRo and RaRa.

As with lots of children their age they think they know it all and Mr Dad was having trouble getting them to listen to his top skipping tips. RoRo in particular was getting more and more annoyed.

RoRo: “I can skip Daddy! I can! … places skipping rope in front of her feet.


Mr Dad: ” RoRo. You need to put the rope behind you”


RoRo: “But this is how I do it!”


Mr Dad: ” No … it’s easier if you start with the rope behind you. You need to put the rope in the right place. Remember how eldest does it?“


So grumpily RoRo puts the skipping rope behind her and struggles to do a couple of ungainly skips over it. And so this continues for a good  few minutes with RoRo really trying to do what Mr Dad is saying all the while protesting that she CAN skip.

Having tried really hard Mr Dad agrees to let RoRo do it her way. He very quickly runs indoors and grabs the camera …

It totally floored me and Mr Dad.

It’s interesting that her id twin sister can skip forward but not backwards. RoRo is also left handed and RaRa is right handed. More ‘mirror twin’ indicators??
