Walkers have gone all grown up and launched a sophisticated new range of snacks called Market Deli, using authentic flavours from across Britain and Europe.
I was invited to a tasting event in London just before their release on Monday (23rd June). I got to taste the new snack alongside it’s original ingredients … I was impressed
The new Market Deli range includes Potato Chips, Tortilla Chips and Pita Chips and comes in the following flavours.
Potato Chips
Cornish Mature Cheddar
I loved these. The Cornish Mature Cheddar has a fantastic flavour which works really well with the potato crisp. Seriously moreish!
Wiltshire Cured Ham, Mature Cheese and Farmhouse Chutney
Being vegetarian I couldn’t taste these but was told that these are quite sweet tasting which must come from the chutney flavouring.
Balsamic Vinegar of Modena (Aceto Balsamico di Modena PGI)
Another favourite of mine. If you like balsamic vinegar then give these a try. Nothing better than sweetness with a vinegar edge.
Flame Grilled Spanish Chorizo With Roasted Onion
Again I didn’t get to taste these as they’re not vegetarian but all the nods and ‘mmmm’ sounds suggested they were just as tasty as everything else.
Tortilla Chips
Anglesey Sea Salt With Cracked Black Pepper

I was a bit disappointed with these. I felt the salt didn’t have a strong enough presence and was over shadowed by the taste of the tortilla chip The black pepper on the other hand is wonderful and warms your tongue after the tortilla itself has been swallowed. Would work well with dips.
Roasted Red Chilli And Mediterranean Sundried Tomato
Wow, these were delicious. The tomato flavour transfers to the tortilla chip fantastically. You get a gorgeous tomato burst followed by a nice bit of heat all with a savoury tortilla background … 5 star and my over all favourite.
Pita Chips
I’ll say upfront that I didn’t take to these. The twice baked pita chips were too dry in the mouth making the overall experience of them unpleasant. Having said that I do think they’d probably work really well with dips so will try them again.
Roasted Garlic And Mediterranean Herbs
Roasted Red Pepper with English Tomato
The snacks are available in large 165g (RRP £2.39) and smaller 45g (RRP £0.83) packets.
It’s a bold step forward into the premium snack range and I think Walkers are going to give their competitors something to be worried about in the premium snack market. I loved the sophisticated packaging with the Walkers brand name subtly placed on the packet and for the main part I think their flavour choices have worked.

Wow, these looks quite posh actually! x
Wow, quite expensive for crisps! They do look good though and now I am hankering for some of the cheese ones…

Gutted I couldn’t make this event, being a total carnivore I’m sure I would have loved the Chorizo and Roasted Onion, sounds wonderful.
