Ultra Dash is a great family game that everyone can join in with or you can also have fun playing on your own.

It’s basically an interactive colour puzzle game that uses 5 coloured targets and an electronic tagger. But with 3 game different game options and a randomizer button, there’s plenty to keep everyone entertained.

Inside the Ultra Dash box you’ll find

– 5 coloured targets
– an electronic tagger
The electronic tagger requires 3 AAA batteries that don’t come already installed so you’ll need to purchase them. They’re easy to install but you will need a small screwdriver to open the battery compartment.
How To Use the Electronic Tagger In Ultra Dash
To turn the tagger on switch the on-off button to the left (l), the right (x) is demo mode. If the tagger goes in to standby mode pull the trigger button on the back to pull up the led display.
The screen on the tagger displays the timer, game mode, and the number of players selected. You can select up to 99 players!
Select which game mode you want first, then select how many players and finally click the button on the back of the tagger to start. For game mode 2 you will also need to set the time required.
When each game is started the top of the tagger will flash the colour of the target you need to run to. Then you place the tagger in the target and it will make a distinctive happy sound. Get the colour wrong and it will make a different noise. You need to make sure you place the tagger in the target properly or it won’t be happy!
RANDOMISE BUTTON – this button is important. Press this at the beginning of each players’ turn so that a different order of colours is selected by the tagger. Otherwise, you will get the same sequence as the person before. Which depending on the age of the players makes it easier for the players that follow.
Ultra Dash Game Modes
Game Mode 1 – Beat The Clock
Played by 1-99 players.
Place the targets randomly around your space (indoors or outdoors and be the fastest to hit all targets with the electronic tagger. Each player’s time will be displayed at the end of their session and at the end of the game all the times will be rotated around so you can compare. If a lot of players are playing it might be good to have a piece of paper to note the times down.
Game Mode 2 – Target Tally
Played by 1-99 players.
In this game you set the time anywhere between 20 seconds to 9 mins 50 seconds (it increases in 10 second units). Then each player takes it in turns to hit as many of the targets as possible (selected by the tagger) in the selected time.
This is actually a lot harder than it sounds and you can have great fun playing in a small space using this game mode. The longer the length of time the harder and more tiring it is!
Game Mode 3 – Relay Race
Played by two teams of up to 99 players.
Set the number of players in each team then press the trigger. Each team member has to complete the the colour sequence before passing it on to the next team member. Which team will be the quickest?!
What Did We Think Of Ultra Dash
We loved Ultra Dash. It’s very simple to use and there’s loads of scope for tweaking the game whether you are inside or outside. It works well on your own, with a couple of players or with loads of players. The only downside to lots of players is you have to wait longer for your next turn!
It is important to make sure you push the tagger into the target properly and hear the happy noise that says you’re correct. If the sun is bright and it’s hard to see the colour in the tagger head just tip it to the side and you’ll see the coloured light flashing.
My girls have been using it for their morning exercise doing bunt jumps and squats from one colour to the next. You could dribble a football from one colour to the next or even add in some obstacles! Interplay themselves made incorporated an Easter Egg hunt!
