Stiletto Heels And Long Skirts

Last Tuesday I had a lucky escape. And I mean ‘Lucky’!

I was walking down stairs about to go pick up the girls when the heel of one of my stiletto shoe boots (see here) got caught in the hem of my skirt. The skirt was a thick wool one. I just knew that I was going for a tumble as the boot was lodged fast and the material unforgiving.
My arms flew out sideways, grabbed at the banister and walls in an effort to slow my fall as I crumpled down onto the knee of my trapped leg and fell head first down about 5 or 6 stairs landing in a groaning rather dazed pile at the bottom of the stairs. My foot was still caught in the back of the skirt.
The damage … a broken/fractured toe and some aches and pains.
The following day I grumbled as I carefully used a hack saw to cut through the gold toe ring I’ve for about 20 years. It was adorning the every darkening, swelling nicely, toe.
The grumble was a small and short lived one.
It could so easily have been from the top of the stairs!

An awful thought! I never wore heels when the girls were young as I was always on my hands and knees but back then tiredness would have been the thing to be wary of. Stairs are mighty dangerous things for all ages!
