Bellies Babies are one of the latest new Interactive toys to hit the UK. The chat and babble, have a distinctive birthmark and have their own poopypedia that helps you identify how to look after your baby based on the poop you find in their nappy! Plus they’ll talk to each other if you place them near each other.

There are four Bellies Babies to collect (Muak-Muak– most loving, Yumi Yummy– greediest, Bobby Boo– funniest and Pinky Twink– naughtiest) and each baby comes with its own unique story and personality… we were sent Bobby Boo! Plus there’s also a new Bellies YouTube Channel.

What’s In A Bellies Babies Box
The Bellies Babies come in large plastic packaging that’s easy to open (cut the sellotape around the edges) and all the parts are held in place by little plastic ties that need snipping with scissors. Once they’ve been cut you can pop your baby out.

Inside your box you’ll find
- a Bellies Baby Interactive doll (Bobby Boo in our case),
- a baby bottle,
- magnetic dummy,
- thin cotton blanket,
- Bellypedia leaflet (contains birth certificate, instructions, poopypedia)
- stickers.
Once unboxed you need to remove the small plastic umbilical cord in the Bellies belly button… that will start the heart beating with a small red light showing at the top of the chest! The heart beats for quite a long time but once that’s finished the chatter starts and it’s super cute! Bobby Boo says his name a few times followed by lots of chuckling, baby babble, giggle and hilarious farty noises!

The nappy is held on with velcro and is easy to undo and put on but moving the legs can make the nappy fall off depending on where the velcro fastener has been attached. Inside the nappy, you’ll find a baby poo in the form of a sticker!

Look the poop up in the PoopyPedia to find out how to look after your baby. Our Bobby Boo had a runny nose.

There’s also an additional Emergency Belly Kit that can be purchased to help make your Bellies baby better… it includes a syringe, vitamin drops, sticky snot remover, baby food and plasters. These aren’t needed to enjoy the doll but will definitely add some hands-on fun to the imaginary play.
On the back of Bobby Boo we found a cute blue birthmark which also happens to be his favourite colour (he also has a blue hair curl under his hat).

The battery compartment is easy to get to, although a little weird looking, and the design means that the doll’s body has a nice clean shape.

I’ve become a big fan of the Bobby Boo whilst reviewing him. Some parents will find the noise annoying but kids will love it… especially the farty noises and giggling. You can either turn him off by pressing his belly button or leave him alone and he’ll eventually turn off himself. To turn him on push the belly button (you have to push it in, quite far, so adults need a little finger) and his heart will start beating as he wakes up and then he’s chatting, giggling and farting like normal.

I think the concept is brilliantly funny and kids are going to love playing with him and all the other Bellies Babies. The interaction and accessories are just enough to encourage imaginary play without interfering with it.
His arms and legs move up and down but the majority of the interaction is the sound recordings and heartbeat light. You can get Bobby Boo to say his name if you move him with a strong jerk type movement or pace him heavily on a surface but the rest of the sounds play automatically

Priced at £29.99 this is quite an expensive interactive doll. The poop stickers are hilarious but there aren’t enough extra poops for kids to use (there are two extras poops on the sticker sheet you get) and it won’t take long before those poop stickers get lost! Yes, you do get a feeding bottle and magnetic dummy/pacifier but the extra’s in the Emergency Belly-Kit expand the Poopypedia and wellness concept!
