Christmas Pipe Cleaner Candy Canes

Pipe cleaner candy canes are a wonderfully simple craft and can add fantastic finishing touches to wreathes, garlands and bunting. They look wonderful hung on trees as decorations and you can even add the to your Christmas wrapping.

Pipe cleaner standard candy canes

You can use most types of pipe cleaner to make them. I tend to use 15cm cotton pipe cleaners as I prefer the matt colour, texture and size.  Their width also means that you can also twist three together quite comfortably.

Pipe cleaner vintage candy canes

Use either a vintage colour scheme that consists of mint, natural and red or a more standard colour scheme of red, white and green.

Cotton Pipe Cleaners

Twist the pipe cleaners together. Don’t worry if it doesn’t twist evenly to start with as you can adjust each twist (loosen or tighten) after.  Curl the end over and kink out the bottom if you want a crook shape.

Pipe Cleaner Candy Canes

Once finished you can leave them plain add bows, glue on some stars and even thread beads on to them. A great craft that all the family can enjoy doing.

These are so pretty, they would be great to make with toddlers I think.

We made some of these last year for the tree – great idea to attach them to string as a garland xx
