Treat The Kids To an Amazing Day Out At Diggerland Kent

This past May Bank Holiday, we decided to venture somewhere new and headed off for a family adventure at Diggerland Kent. If you’re unfamiliar with Diggerland, it’s a one-of-a-kind theme park where construction vehicles are the stars of the show. Aimed at families with children aged 2–12 years, Diggerland is a hands-on experience that lets kids (and adults!) drive, ride, and operate real diggers, dumpers, and other heavy machinery in a safe, supervised environment. With four locations across the UK, it’s the perfect destination for little construction enthusiasts and families looking for a unique day out.

Arriving at Diggerland

We arrived early, excited to start our day. (Tip: check opening times in advance! It opens at 10 a.m.) Even before the gates opened, the atmosphere was buzzing with excitement. A short queue of families, all eager to get hands-on with diggers, made the wait fly by.

At first glance, the park seemed smaller than I’d imagined, and I wondered if it would keep us entertained all day. But once inside, we realized it was larger than it looked. There was plenty to do, and we spent the entire day exploring without any complaints of boredom.

What’s Included in Your Ticket?

Almost all attractions are included in the ticket price, which is £19.95 for anyone over 90cm (discounts available if you book online). Children under 90cm get in free. There are a few additional attractions, like the dodgems, which cost £1 per ride.

For families who want to save, there are lots of picnic spots available, but the park also has a café if you’d rather buy food on-site.

Here’s some of what we played with at Diggerland…

•  Dippy Ducks – This was a favorite for our girls! Using a digger arm to hook ducks is harder than it looks, and they had great fun competing against each other.

Ground Shuttle

A wild ride that bounces and bumps you around a dirt arena—great for thrill-seekers!

 Go-Karts

These are slow enough for kids to feel in control while still being exciting. One of our daughters figured out that sticking to the outer edge makes the ride last longer!

Dig-A-round

A merry-go-round with a construction twist.

Sky Shuttle

We were lifted 50ft into the air, giving us an incredible bird’s-eye view of the park and surrounding countryside.

 Mini Landrovers

Another slow ride, but the kids loved the feeling of independence as they drove.

JCB Drive

With a supervisor to guide them, the kids had a blast driving a real JCB around a track. Even Mr. Dad couldn’t resist joining in!

Robots

These robot diggers were popular with both kids and adults, and they had the longest queue of the day.

Spin Dizzy

True to its name, this ride spins you around while lifting you higher and higher. It was a hit with our youngest two, who went on it multiple times.

Diggerland is a fantastic day out for families with kids aged 2–12, but it’s also great for adults who want to join the fun. With rides and activities suitable for all ages, it’s an inclusive experience where no one feels left out.

Be aware that some rides have height restrictions, and younger children often need an adult to accompany them. The staff are excellent at managing ride swaps for parents with multiple kids, so everyone gets a turn without extra queuing.

Our Verdict

Turns out Mr. Dad was absolutely right—Diggerland was a huge hit! The mix of diggers, rides, and hands-on experiences kept everyone entertained, and the kids were already asking, “When can we come back?” as we headed home.
