Luxurious Peppermint Foot Cream

December 10, 2014 By BlueBearWood 20 Comments

If you’re looking to give your feet some serious love and pampering then this ‘Luxurious, Homemade, Whipped Shea Butter, Peppermint Foot Cream’ is just what you need.

DIY Peppermint Foot Cream Recipe

Shea butter is a gentle, easily absorbed moisturiser that is a perfect base for many types of body butters and creams. It’s mild scent makes it the perfect base to add essential oils to and it’s natural lightness means when done properly you get a wonderfully light whipped cream.

To make luxury peppermint foot cream you need

50g Shea Butter
40-50ml fractionated coconut oil (this is not solid)
40-50ml fractionated almond oil
20-30 drops peppermint essential oil depending on how strong you like it.

Put all three oils in a medium sized bowl and gently heat.

Shea butter almond and coconut oil

Shea butter is solid and needs to be melted slowly either using a bain marie or microwave.  If you’re using a microwave use a medium setting and do several short bursts of 3o seconds. Give the oils a stir/swill between  each 30 second burst.

When the shea butter has melted add 20 – 30 drops of peppermint essence and then allow the oil to cool by either putting it in the fridge or freezer. I prefer the freezer as it’s faster.

Add peppermint essential oil

Frozen Shea Butter

When the oil mixture has set (it will for from clear to opaque) whisk it up into a wonderful fluffy cream using a hand blender.

Finally, transfer it to a glass or plastic jar to store.

This recipe makes enough for one present sized jar.

I made this using only shea butter, fractioned coconut oil, and peppermint essential oil. I loved this! I used it on my whole body, even my chapped lips!
