Sometimes we get sent a gadget/toy to review and it makes everyone in the family squeal with joy. The Mi-Mic Bluetooth Karaoke Microphone Speaker is one of those toys. It’s portable, super easy to use, has great sound and there are no wires!

Controls

The instruction leaflet is prefect; easy and straightforward to reading with help on how to connect your bluetooth device.

LED POWER … press and hold this down to switch on and a voice recording will tell you that it’s powered on. To switch off press and hold the power button and again a recorded voice will tell you it’s powered off. This button is also used to turn on and change the LED light colours.

VOL … Slide this up and down to increase the microphone volume. The music volume is controlled via your output device (tablet, laptop, phone etc) or via a black button on the side of the speaker.

ECHO … use this to add echo to your microphone. It works in a similar way to the mic vlume control slider.

MICRO SD CHARGER … play music without a blue tooth device by playing songs from a micro SD card.

PLAY/PAUSE/PREV/NEXT SPEAKER CONTROL … this is very easy to multifunctional button. Short push upwards to move to next song or hold push to increase song volume. Short push downwards to move to previous song or hold push to decrease song volume. Press inwards to to play or pause track.

There are seven LED light colours and 9 options; No light, red, dark blue, green, pink, light blue, yellow and orange, cycle (through all colours) and music match. This is controlled by a short press of the LED Power button. We liked using the music match which had the lights changing with the flow of the track being played. The colours are beautiful bright and the colour change is a blend rather than a sharp change.

It makes the desk/shelf/ wall have a lovely ambient glow if the speaker isn’t being held.

The mic ‘stand’ (grey rubber ring) is used for propping the speaker up when it’s on it’s side and also gives a little protection to the mic head if it’s knocked over from the upright position.

What Did We Think Of The Mi-Mic

WE LOVED IT!

Seriously, this one very cool little gadget and I can see it being played with and used constantly. As a speaker the sound is clear and nicely rounded (not too much treble or base) even at the furthest distance. There is feedback noise if your bluetooth device is too near but that’s easy to sort by increasing the distance between them.

The LED lights are great fun and as I mentioned earlier add lovely ambient colour to the area the speaker is laid down or stood upright. That’s the other thing. It doesn’t matter how you position the speaker it still sounds great.

The microphone needs to be held right up to the mouth when it’s being used which does make singing in a large group difficult but the voice and music sound quality is excellent. I do like that you can control the volume of the music and the volume of the voice easily and there was no crackle when the volume of either was turned up high.

We didn’t try playing music via a micro SD card.

This is perfect for parties, camping, festivals, the beach or just singing you heart out in your bedroom. It’s an ‘all family’ gadget that everyone can enjoy and the fact that the speaker is so good means that it will get a great deal of use … youtube music playlists work brilliantly!

Priced at around £19.99 I think this is well worth the money.
