Materials Needed To Make Pipe Cleaner Christmas Trees
You will need;
- 30cm green pipe cleaners (I used cotton pipe cleaners but you can also use fluffy chenille ones),
- mini pom poms
- a glue gun or PVA (white) glue
- cotton or string to hang them by.

How To Make Your Pipe Cleaner Christmas Trees
The Pipe Cleaner Christmas Trees are pretty easy to make but they are a little fiddly because of their size. So younger kids may find my pipe cleaner and perler bead Christmas Tree decorations easier to make.

- The first step is to curl your pipe cleaner into a snail shell shape.
- Next, carefully pull up from the center of the pipe cleaner to create your cone shape. It will look a bit like a coiled spring.

- Once you have your cone shape, wrap/tuck the outer end of the pipe cleaner around the next curl to secure a circle base. This will allow the pipe cleaner Christmas Tree to stand up firmly.
- Finally, glue your pom poms to the pipe cleaner. For speed, you can use a glue gun. But I prefer to use thick tacky white PVA glue. It takes longer to dry but it leaves a neater finish.

How To Use Your Decorations
The finished decorations can be used in a few different ways. I like to add a thread and hang them on the Christmas Tree or on festive branches. They also look fabulous, dotted around the house in small clusters of stand-alone decorations. They make super cute name placeholders for the table. And they also make adorable accessories for kids to use in imaginary play with toys and as ornaments in toy doll houses or Playmobil playsets.

Oh wow these are adorable and so easy to make. I’m going to let my friends with children know about this post as it’s a great Christmad craft activity they can do with them!

Oh how sweet are they. I bet mine and my kids wouldn’t look like that but going to give it a try.
These are brilliant. Pinning them, they’re ideal for a quiet afternoon after nursery.

These are very cool! I can imagine my children enjoying making these. Thanks for sharing ๐
Love these! Just wondering – what kind of glue did you use? Thanks! Sue
Hi, I use pva white glue (tacky glue). I squirt a blog onto a plate or plastic lid and the the pompoms can be dipped in and stuck in place. I have tried a glue gun but i prefer the pva because although it takes longer to dry I can manipulate the position of the pompoms. I tend to glue in halves. So will do half a tree and then let it dry. This allows me to play with the shape of the tree a little.
These are ace, totally amazing and I adore them
Really lovely homemade decs. Great idea. I hope Santa brings me a big craft box for Christmas!
Oh I love these, really sweet and a great fun idea!

OK these are CRAZY CUTE! love them. Where do you find your pom pons? x
I get the teeny ones from supermarkets
Yours are so cute. My pipe cleaners are 12 inches and seem a tad short. Can’t get as many curls. Mine are chenille . I’ll keep trying and also look for longer ones!!
Love these, they are so cute and simple too

Oh they are perfect to use for Christmas seating cards ๐
What a clever idea! So simple yet so beautiful. Kids and the not-so-craft-savvy adults will love this.
I’m gonna make these for women at work as a nice mini gift. So few of them decorate their desks. This will add a little cheer for everyone during the Christmas season
Oh, that’s a lovely thing to do. Merry Christmas xxx
Super cute! My girls will love making these for friends and teachers.
Just made these with my 3 year old. So cute and easy. We added glitter stars to the tops.
I used glue dots and used the idea for my grandson’s class. Way less mess!
Good idea ๐
These are so cute, colourful and Christmassy! I really love them and think a little forest of them would look great in any home!
Thank you Vivabop. They’re one of my favourite!
Thank you for this! Am I the only one that found this a little tricky? hahaha. Hot glue can be so naughty although it does dry quickly. I see you used some other glue, will try that next.
For fun I decorate a little outdoor tree next to a public alley so I am always on the lookout for cheery ornaments that don’t cost a lot.
