Children Will Love These Simple Sea Shell Puppets

These Sea Shell Puppets are a gorgeous interactive way to use your shells collected from adventures on the beach. They use the natural beauty of the shells and kids just adore playing with them … well mine do anyway.

My girls always come home from the beach with their pockets stuffed full of beach treasure that includes shells. There’s something wonderfully tactile and calming about them. And turning them into these puppets creates a beautiful imaginative play toy that kids love to interact with.

This cute sea shell puppet is a great shell craft that uses a lot of foraged material (collected shells and old lolly sticks)

Materials Required To Make Sea Shell Puppets

  • Crafts sticks although you can also upcycle old Ice Lolly sticks,
  • googly eyes,
  • shells
  • tacky/strong pva (white) glue… an alternative would be to use a glue gun but I prefer the finish using pva

How to Make Sea Shell Puppets

Get your children to lay the shells out different shell combinations on your lolly (craft) stick choosing what they want as a head and body. It’s great fun looking at all the different combinations you can have!

Use shells collected on the beach and old lolly sticks to make these sweet sea shell puppets

Use a liberal amount of glue to glue the shells on.

Add some googly eyes and wait to fully dry. A glue gun is quicker if you cannot wait but it’s more difficult not to let the glue show.

These shell ideas were part of a shell craft hangout I did with some other great craft bloggers. Watch the video below and use the links to find out their fab shell craft suggestions.

Red Ted Art – Made crab and Turtle Shell Fridge Magnets.

Kids Chaos – Talks about using shells to make a picture.

Imagination Tree – Uses Salt dough to make shell imprints in.

Cristals TinyTreasures – Made the most gorgeous shell necklace.

Domestic Goddesque – Used shells to print on paper.
