To Make A Tissue Paper Hat You Will Need
- sheets of A2 tissue paper (3 sheets per hat),
- Ribbon/tulle to tie around the head,
- A small craft stapler
- Lightweight paper flowers, rabbits, Easter eggs, Easter chicks etc to decorate.
How To Make A Tissue Paper Hat
First, layer three sheets of tissue paper and carefully lay them on top of your child’s head so that the center of your child’s head is in the center of the tissue paper. You want the front of the tissue paper to push down to around eye level.

Next, take your tulle (or ribbon) and wrap it gently around the head over the tissue paper. As you do this smooth and direct the tissue paper down. Tie off the tulle to keep it in place but use a knot that you can undo and reposition at the endDon’t worry about fastening the back bow exactly until right at the end.

Starting at the front of the hat carefully fold back and curl the edges of the tissue paper and clip in place with a staple. Continue to curl the edges over and secure with a staple where necessary all around the hat.

Securing The Back Of The Hat
You will need to carefully pull the back corners together and flatten the back fold of tissue paper down. Again, securing it in place with a staple.

5. Tidy up the back and tighten the tulle if necessary

and if you fancy add some extra foam or paper decorations!
I would need two slits on the top. Great idea!

Oh that is brilliant and so pretty.
I have all boys but shall pin it so it can be shared 🙂
If you use brown or black tissue paper you can tweak the shape to make a pirate or cowboy hat 🙂
Actually my lad wants to be the joker with green hair and I bet this would work!
