To Make a Tissue Paper Easter Bonnet You Will Need
- 3 sheets of A2 tissue paper per hat,
- Ribbon/tulle to tie around the head,
- A small craft stapler
- Lightweight paper flowers, Easter chicks, and Easter-themed stickers to decorate.
How to Make a Tissue Paper Easter Bonnet
First, layer three sheets of tissue paper and carefully lay them over your child’s head so that the centre of their head is positioned in the middle of the paper. The front edge of the tissue paper should fall to around eye level.

Next, take your tulle (or ribbon) and wrap it gently around the head over the tissue paper. As you do this, smooth and guide the tissue paper downwards. Tie the tulle in place using a knot you can easily undo and reposition later. Donβt worry about tying the back bow neatly just yet.

Starting at the front of the hat, carefully fold back and curl the edges of the tissue paper, securing each fold with a staple. Continue curling and securing all the way around the brim as needed. You will have a short, tight brim at the front of the hat and a nice, large brim around the sides and back.

Securing The Back Of The Hat
Carefully pull the back corners together and flatten the folded tissue paper. Secure it in place with a staple.

Tidy up the back of the bonnet and tighten the tulle, and neaten the bow if necessary. Add foam shapes, paper decorations, flowers or Easter stickers to personalise your bonnet.

I would need two slits on the top. Great idea!

Oh that is brilliant and so pretty.
I have all boys but shall pin it so it can be shared π
If you use brown or black tissue paper you can tweak the shape to make a pirate or cowboy hat π
Actually my lad wants to be the joker with green hair and I bet this would work!
