Materials Needed To Make This Card

You know how it is. You’re rushing around like a looney trying to get everything sorted for Christmas and then you remember you promised your kiddo you’d make some Christmas cards with them. Don’t panic! This Mono Print Christmas Card has you covered because it uses common household items and a touch of creativity.

You will need;

  • Red cardstock
  • Gold star sequins or gold stickers
  • White paint
  • An old liquid medicine syringe dispenser with a doughnut-shaped end
  • A glue stick
  • Optional: fine gold, white, or clear glitter

How To Make A Mono Print Christmas Tree Card

Ready to get started? Follow these easy steps to create your own masterpiece:

Prepare Your Supplies

Start by setting up a craft-friendly workspace.

  • Lay down newspaper or a craft mat to catch any paint spills.
  • Use a take away lid or paper plate to put the white paint on.
  • Cut your red card stock to size and fold in half

Print The Christmas Tree

  • Dip the doughnut-shaped end of your medicine syringe dispenser into white paint. Make sure the whole surface has a thin layer of paint covering it. Also check that a bubble hasn’t formed in the middle of the doughnut. Blow gently to pop it if it has.
  • Starting toward the bottom of your card, stamp a row of five white rings for the treeโ€™s base. Begin in the center of the row and work outward.

  • Add additional rows, decreasing the number of rings per row (four rings, three rings, and so on) to create a tree shape.

Bonus Tip for Older Kids: Talk about triangle numbers as you layer the ringsโ€”this craft sneaks in a bit of math while keeping it fun!

Add The Tree Pot

Use the rim of the syringe dispenser to roll small lines under the tree, creating a rectangle-shaped โ€œpotโ€ for the Christmas tree to sit in.

Add the Sparkle: Finishing Touches

Itโ€™s time to decorate! Hereโ€™s how to make your card truly magical:

  • Top It Off: Use a glue stick to attach a shiny gold star to the top of the tree. Yu can glue a star sequin or use a star sticker
  • Sprinkle Some Glitter: While the paint is still wet, sprinkle fine glitter over the tree and pot.
    • Gold glitter makes the pot shine.
    • White or clear glitter adds a frosty touch to the rings.

Let everything dry completely before moving or displaying your card.

Finally use a glue stick to attach a shiny gold star to the top … all done!

If you want to add some sparkle sprinkle glitter on the paint before it dries. I used fine gold glitter on the striped tree pot and very fine white sugar glitter over some of the rings. Don’t use loads as it’s nice to see the white paint show through as well. The fine white  sugar glitter looks gorgeous (hard to show in the photo) but definitely adds a touch of Christmas magic!

I love how easy this is and yet so effective. If it were me I would be using bit’s of cotton balls as snow more most things, mainly as I am not very creative!
